This morning (Tuesday, Dec. 3rd), a crew from the City of Schenectady once again helped to deliver, install and decorate the annual Stockade Tree (f/k/a Stockade Christmas Tree), including securing it in the permanent tree stand and placing the star atop the tree. Colleen Macauley and Susannah Hand supervised the installation for the Association, and Diane DeMeo helped them with light-stringing and hanging large, gold and silver spherical ornaments. Stockade Association president Mary D’Allessandro was also on hand to welcome the Tree. Last Saturday, Carol DeLaMater and volunteers decked the fence around the Lawrence Circle with bows and boughs.
.
Even under a gray, overcast sky, the tree and Circle look lovely. The 20-foot tall balsam fir was again donated by the NYS Tree Nursery at Saratoga, and arranged with them by Stockadian Susannah Hand, who is employed by the Nursery. (Click here for photos of past Stockade trees.) The Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 5 PM this Sunday, December 8, followed by a celebration with holiday snacks.

The following slideshow has about two dozen photos of the activity at the Circle this morning (Tuesday, Dec. 3), and the “finished” tree.

I hope to see many of my neighbors, old and new, this Sunday at the Tree Lighting. If you have a bell to ring, and/or a dish (with goodies on it) to share, please bring them along.
